![]() Secrets of Grindea (also in development, though an action rpg, also has a roguelike mode with a co-op mode hack provided by the devs for the current version of the game)īinding of Isaac (though not the kind of co-op we're talking about here)įull Mojo Rampage (still not quite the same kind of co-op, but less BoI sidekick style)ĮDIT: All of the above being LOCAL co-op, strictly speaking. No, I don't think it is likely, to happen, but it sure would be nice and it never hurts to ask.īut here's a short list of rogue-type games I've played that feature co-op/MP: ![]() In any case, the point of this thread was to generate interest in co-op as the devs themselves have stated that if they see a large success with this game and lots of people ask for co-op, they may consider implementing it. I did, however, say that many developers have gone back and added in content due to consumer demands. The statement you quoted simply states the origin of the reasoning that co-op/MP wasn't initially implemented. I didn't say many roguetypes feature this. I can't think of any co-op roguelike aside Risk of Rain. However, with enough sales, funding, and public interest, they may be willing to allocate resources and time to making it co-op or MP. Originally posted by stickyka:It's like this: The devs made a roguelite which is traditionally a single player style game. Then, once they have the time and resources, they can go back and add it in. If they start working on MP now, it would be a huge setback for their other projects.īUT, if they're willing to ADD MP given that they've settled in with all the console ports and PC versions, then the community must let them know that they want it. ![]() And that's tweaking the game, squishing bugs, promoting sales, and making general improvements - not to mention making console ports. ![]() Why not do it anyway? Because doing so would stop the proccess of what they're already knee-deep in. But to make this co-op, the devs would have to redesign almost the entire game - for balance, for player interaction, for perks to work right or not go O-P, bugs would need to be squished, and just a ton of work. I enjoy the single player experience, but co-op would be even better. Why not after many people ask for it? Well, if they're enjoying the game as is, then the devs have done their job. Why not from the start? Well, it obviously wasn't their original intent. It's like this: The devs made a roguelite which is traditionally a single player style game. Generating sales and listening to your consumers to make the game better go hand in hand. It has been done the other way around many times.
